"Light for All" plans bring power from alternative sources to 12 million residential consumers, and the National Electrical Energy Conservation Program will combat the waste in the production and use of electrical energy.
The United Nations Visitors’ Lobby has added a new exhibition to it. "The Amazon Forest and Climate Change"exhibit is part of "Amazonia Brasil", a major Brazilian initiative comprising numerous events in New York City, that begun in April 2008 and ends in August, 2008.

The initiative is a multicultural program that gathers together a wealth of knowledge about the Amazon region. It presents several local communities,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], forest peoples and innovative projects, portraying the Amazon from the viewpoint of those who live and work there along with possible and realistic solutions for Climate Change.
Brazil is also intensely committed to a number of social inclusion projects, such as the Light for All Program and the National Electrical Energy Conservation Program.
This initiative and exhibit are among the many energy related initiatives that Brazil has funded and contributed towards. In 2005, 44% of the energy consumed in Brazil came from renewable sources. In the 1970's, Brazil launched a national plan for the production of ethanol and most light vehicles currently sold in Brazil are flex-fuel cars. In 2013,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Brazil plans to make a blend of 5% biodiesel with the regular diesel mandatory.
The exhibit was opened on July 10,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], 2008 by the Executive Director of "Amazonia Brasil", Anna Claudia Agazzi. It showcases small-scale models, animations and panels that would help viewers understand the role that the Amazon Forest plays in the global and humidity cycle,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], as well as the global warming impacts caused by the region's ecological imbalance.
Though Brazil is exempt from the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change quantified emission limitations and reduction obligations, the country is making significant contributions to fight against climate change.
The largest component of Brazil's total Carbon Oxide (CO) emissions is associated to the conversion of forest to other land uses, leading Brazil to tackle the problem of Deforestation, along with Global Warming.
The exhibit places emphasis on the damages produced in the fantastic operation of the green ocean promoted by deforestation, forest fires and timber logging. It also presents solutions that can stop deforestation, through forest valuation, environmental services and alternative economies. The exhibit is designed to promote individual and collective consciousnesses.
The "Amazonia Brasil" initiative is also sponsored by Petrobras, an integrated energy company that is present in 27 countries and has joined the United Nations Global Compact.
