How to Become Involved In Community Drama Acting
While not everyone aspires to be the next big hit on Broadway, drama acting can prove to be a fun hobby and a way to take on a different persona, even if only for just a little while. There are numerous ways that you can become involved with drama acting. Many communities sponsor a local drama theatre and put on productions once or twice per year, with the cast filled with local citizens. In many cases, at least one of these productions will include a musical, so if you also like to sing this can be a great opportunity to combine two favorite past times.
Local theatres usually announce their call for open auditions in the local newspaper. Since, some theatres only put on one or two productions a year, you may wish to call the main number and inquire about future productions and upcoming auditions, if you have not seen any open audition calls posted recently.
Even if you have had no formal training as an actor, you may be surprised to learn that a local or community theatre is looking for your talent to add to their cast. Like professional theatre companies,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], most community theatres will hold open auditions to fill their roles; however, so it's a good idea to know what to expect before you show up to audition.
One of the best things you can do to get ready for an audition is prepare. First, try to obtain a script if at all possible. If it's a relatively obscure play, you may need to check online to purchase a copy.

If this is the case, try to read over the script quickly before you begin your audition to get a feel for the character and how they would speak, move, etc. Make a point to look up from the script occasionally and not simply 'read' it. Inject emotion into your voice and facial movements. Above all, be confident.
