This ban excluded menthol cigarettes and didn&rsquo;t cover other type of flavored tobacco products as for instance, cigars and hookah. <br />Menthol makes the taste of cigarettes even more savory to new smokers by stimulating cold receptors and lessening the discomfort associated with smoking. That is why menthol cigarettes are disproportionately smoked by teenagers. Approximately half of the young smokers give preference to menthol tobacco products, in comparison to less than one-third of smokers over the age of 25. 60% of smokers in secondary school smoke menthol cigarettes; this is the highest rate among all age classes. <br />Menthol is not simply a flavoring.
