Other areas coming to the forefront of breast cancer research include - organic foods, gene-diet interactions Puma Ferrari, diets in adolescence and younger ages when we believe cancer growth may begin, and the interaction between dietary factors that increase risk and decrease risk such as diet high in grilled Puma First Round Womens, smoked or barbecued meats but also high in fruits and vegetables.
So, we should drink only 1-2 alcoholic beverages a day if at all and maintain a healthy body weight. What about the other areas of diet that have been researched over the years? Should we drink green tea, eat soy or take soy supplements, avoid charred meat, eat lots of fruits and vegetables?
Over 25 years ago, diet and cancer became a hot topic when Doll and Peto published an article suggesting diet is linked to 35% of cancer deaths in the Journal of the National Cancer Institute. Since that time, the media has been overwhelmed by reports from cancer and diet studies. These reports tell us to drink more but drink less, eat more but eat less and everything in between. Who should we be listening to?
In May of this year Cancer published a review of diet and breast cancer. Studies looking at everything from green tea to BMI (body mass index) were evaluated, compiled and important findings reported. After, looking at specific studies from the past 55 years, three dietary habits were identified as being strongly linked to an increased risk for breast cancer. These habits were regular alcohol consumption, being overweight and weight gain.
At this time, research doesn’t strongly indicate other dietary factors increase or decrease our risk of breast cancer. This is not to say there are not other areas of research that are showing promising results. For example, a high fat diet may increase the risk of breast cancer, and new research is looking at subtypes of fats (monounsaturated, polyunsaturated Cheap Puma Ferrari, saturated, omega-3 fatty acids) and how they impact risk. The May Cancer article points to several studies showing monounsaturated fats (those found in olive oil) to be associated with an increased risk of breast cancer while the polyunsaturated omega-3 fatty acids may reduce the risk of breast cancer.
New research into breast cancer and diet is still emerging and the link between anti-inflammatory foods such as omega-3 fatty acids is an area of great interest. High levels of inflammation are felt to be linked to a number of chronic diseases such as heart disease, arthritis and cancer. Factors such as omega-3s and spices, such as cumin and garlic, are being looked at for their anti-inflammatory properties and their ability to decrease tumor growth and the spread of cancer.
