| Wipro considers China as the biggest,outsourcing and globalization, and perhaps the only,Offshore outsourcing, threat to India's dominance in the IT services space. In an interview with Business Line's K. Giriprakash, Wipro's Executive Director and Chief Financial Officer,Outsourcing Solution For Retail Goods, Suresh Senapaty said that the entire IT ecosystem in India should counter the looming threat from China.
Senapaty said that the only possible threat to India's outsourcing is China and it is rapidly growing. India has an advantage with a large base of $50 billion revenue. China's is significantly less but it is growing faster than India. It is important that the whole ecosystem is supportive to grab market share. Otherwise, it will be lost quickly. Wipro currently has two centres in China – Shanghai and Chengdu. "We are addressing both IT and BPO,Print solution outsourcing, we are seeking collaboration with universities; we are hiring lot of locals there. We are addressing global customers – but going forward it's important we address the Chinese MNCs," said Senapaty. However,Localization Software, first it is necessary to attain a critical mass before addressing the local market. |
