Do You Live With [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] Type Expectations?
Are you following the NFL? If you do follow the NFL, the NFL is really close to your life.
I know that most women who are reading this are thinking to themselves, "How is the NFL close to my life -- especially because I am not a sports fan?" It is really close to your own life because you need to look at the story of ex-Arizona Cardinal's quarterback, [link widoczny dla zalogowanych]. [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] had so many expectations coming out of USC.
When he was first drafted as the 10th pick in the first round of the draft, he felt slighted because he believed he should have been a top three pick. He has now been in the NFL for four seasons. At this point in his dream world, he truly believes he should have won a few Super Bowls and led his team to a championship every single year. He would be a top quarterback in the NFL.
He was coddled in Los Angeles and at USC, and he played on one of the best college teams to ever exist. He barely beat out Matt Cassel. There was almost a coin flip between he and Matt Cassel. It could have just as easily been Matt Cassel living those championships.
It is funny that so far Matt Cassel has gone on to be a better NFL quarterback than [link widoczny dla zalogowanych]. Matt Leinert had all these expectations,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and he never really worked very hard.
He had all of his expectations in his mind, and thought the whole NFL world should be handed to him. This past Saturday, he found himself cut from him Arizona Cardinals team.
The reason he was cut was because he wasn't a good teammate. All of his teammates felt his energy all around them. Life is so much about energy. All of [link widoczny dla zalogowanych]'s teammates never felt rallied by his energy. The Cardinals felt like [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] was a just a cog in a wheel that just did not fit.
So how does this relate to your life?
When you go and meet someone for the very first time, what expectations do you have? In your mind, do you make that person out to be the most perfect person in the world? Do you have all sorts of expectations about how the relationship could develop before the person has even spoken a word to you?
Do you go out on dates and have all kinds of expectations like these? As you drive to pick up a date, do you think to yourself, "When should I kiss them? When are we going to go on our first vacation together?" Do you have all these expectations about a relationship going forward, even though you don't even know this person yet?
Do you know why people have expectations about things? It is because they don't do the necessary work in their life. They don't go out there every single day and meet people. They don't go out there and try every single day, and their life generally is pretty boring.
When they finally meet somebody they have all these expectations because they believe this person is going to be their savior in life. They believe that this person is going to save them from the misery that their life has become. The reason people do this is because they don't want to do the work every single day just like [link widoczny dla zalogowanych].
If you are single and you are not going out there and meeting people every single day, nobody is going to come and rescue you. No one is going to rescue you from your life.
You are just not going to stumble upon somebody and have a great relationship. You've got to become a social person, and be a social person every single day. You've got to go out there, talk to people and cultivate that social life.
You have to have a desire to do that. You have to have a desire to succeed. You have to have a desire to meet someone and have a spectacular relationship.
Without that desire, you are just going to suffer from expectation-itis. And when you have expectation-itis, you are going to be no different from [link widoczny dla zalogowanych]. You are no different than the pretty boy looking [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] who couldn't make it in the NFL and is not the third string quarterback of the Houston Texans.
If you desire a better life, then you better go out there, lose the expectations and do all the work necessary to have that life. Otherwise you are just going to get cut at the beginning of the first date.
