The History Of Rare Earth Magnets
Originating more than 30 years ago, rare earth magnets are composites of rare elements from the earth that are forged into powerful magnets. There is no category of magnet that is stronger than a rare earth magnet, including the more common alnico and ferrite variety. Neodymium magnets are the strongest available and are cheaper than samarium-cobalt magnets. Rare earth magnets are also used in stop motion animation to anchor models, in roller coasters that use hydraulic power to accelerate, in MRI machines for medical imaging, and in pickups that are installed on electric guitars, violins, and bass guitars to capture and convert vibrations.
Rare earth magnets have become an integral part of modern technology. Their power is unparalleled and can be harnessed for a range of commercial and scientific endeavors.
