Satya Shaw Joins Forces With Industry Giants To Fight Proposed Soft Drink Tax
(1888PressRelease) Satya B Shaw currently serves as AACSA President. Satya Shaw founded Shaw Tax Advisory Group, LLC soon after becoming a Certified Public Accountant in 1980. Satya Shaw has also been a member of the American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin since 1982 and a member of the Asian American Hotel Owners since 1989.
Tampa,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Florida; - Satya Shaw,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], President of Asian American Convenience Store Owners Association, is working to protect convenience store owners by ensuring that the proposed soft drink tax does not pass.
Satya Shaw and his organization, the AACSA,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], recently formed an alliance with Coca-Cola Company and PepsiCo to fight against the soft drink taxes of 3 cents per can and 17 cents per two-liter bottle which Federal lawmakers have proposed to raise $6 billion in additional revenues to pay for healthcare reform. "We have formed alliances to protest the new tax since it will hurt the consumers as well as kill the soft -drink business in convenience stores, " said Satya Shaw at a recent AACSA convention, held in Tampa, Florida.
"Improving health care in America is an admirable goal we support,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], but food and beverage taxes have no place in healthcare reform, particularly taxes that single out one product like juice drinks and soda, " said Satya B. Shaw.
Satya Shaw and the AACSA have been quite successful in their goal to protect convenience store owners; they battled against high credit card fees and won the fight not too long ago. Individual store owners often lack the political power that is needed for economic expansion and the AACSA works to serve as the voice of the underrepresented store owners and stand as a symbol of strength and unity. The AACSA works hard to resolve the multiple problems that store owners face through education and collaboration.
The decision to join forces with Coca-Cola Company and PepsiCo against the proposed tax was made in November at the Sixth Annual National Convention of Asian American Convenience Store Owners Association (AACSA) held in Tampa, Florida. As part of this partnership, the AACSA pledged to collect at least 5 million signatures from customers visiting its members' convenience stores and gas stations over the next five months. AACSA Founder and President Satya B. Shaw said the organization will send these signatures opposing the proposed food and beverage taxes to the U. S. Congress.
